Tomoko Maruyama
Tomoko is a San Francisco based graphic designer originally from Japan. She has a distinct design style that is warm, positive and soft; the natural colors she uses evoke feelings of happiness and peace which reflects the warm heart she herself possesses. Tomoko has been influenced by her daily experiences in the cities where she lived. Although she currently lives in San Francisco, Tomoko lived in New York when she was an art student and Tokyo where she is originally from. Tomoko likes to walk in the city and discover the hidden secrets of the urban environment where she obtain most of her inspiration.
Tomoko has been working on a wide range of products including greeting cards, illustrations, calendars, apparel and graphic design. After a successful introduction of her San Francisco product line in 2009; Tomoko is launching her New York line in 2010.
Before becoming a designer, Tomoko was a sports teacher for children and seniors in Tokyo. After a few years as a sports teacher she realized that her real interest was in graphic design. Although this may have appeared like a significant career change at the time, this has been proven to be the correct decision since she was able to discover herself and allow her to pursue her true dream as a designer.

日本体育大学卒業後、スポーツ業界の道を歩むが、デザイナーになる夢を諦められず渡米を決意する。アメリカの大学でデザインを学び、独立。シンプルで可愛らしい絵に、優しい色をのせた温かなデザインで注目を集めている。カレンダー、グリーティングカード、アパレルを中心にサンフランシスコの美術館や空港での販売を開始し、人気を得ている。2010年から、絵本の制作とニューヨークへの進出に向けて準備中。
